A soft measuring tape is the most accurate tool for measuring yourself at home. If you don’t have one, you can measure yourself a piece of string (make sure it’s not stretchy) and then measure the string with a ruler or builder's tape measure.
For accurate measurements, the tape should be snug but not uncomfortably tight. Try taking a deep breath, sitting down and standing back up to check that the tape isn’t constricting you as you move and breathe — This ensures that clothing of that size won't be too tight.

"Bought this dress as it was marked down significantly. I am usually a size 18 and sized down to a 16 on the first purchase. When the dress arrived it was massive! Returned it for a 12 that arrived today and honestly, I think I could have gotten away with a size 10. Not sure why there is such a huge difference in sizing. . . it is lovely having a size 12 dress, but the reality is that I am a size 18 and the sizing on this dress really needs to be looked at and corrected. Other than that, the material is lovely and I will definitely wear during Summer."
